Armenian News: Governor Schwarzenegger recognizes Armenian Genocide

He always gave me the impression that he is rude, stubborn angry man... Insulting democrats all the time etc...
This news was interesting... He signed a bill in which he recognizes the Armenian Genocide!

for the info... President Bush gives a speach every year on April 24 referring to the genocide as "sad tragedy" or "a massacre", recently Armenian in US have been more active.

"Some 32 senators from the U.S Congress on Monday wrote a letter to Bush
asking him to use the word "genocide" in his speech".

( last year only 22 signed it) Among those who support the Armenian case are senator John Kerry and Hillary Clinton

Car History Review

Recently I've been intending to make this blog a little more personal. I usually want to post what I personally find interesting, even if its not news.
One of my interests are news about cars. What company provides what range of cars and how competitive they are. I've also been curious to know why some company's have different brand names for the cars they produce.
I want to give you an overview on what I'm talking about here.. i will give you more details later
I used to wonder is there a car called Holden-Vectra (in Australia), while in Egypt we call it Opel-Vectra ? why is there a Holden Commodore that is excatly the same car as Chevrolet Lumina? Why is there a Ford-Laser that looks like a Mazda 626?
I will give you an overview and I will update this post more often.

This week I thought i may want to check my old screen e-mail address that used to forward to my original e-mail. The address was alan@emirzian.cjb.net . I used to like it. The idea of having my last night in a part of the domain was nice, until i started receiving huuge amounts of spam. Recently I tried to get it back working again... and thanks to gmail's spam blocker. I am able to use it now... You can e-mail me on alan@emirizian.cjb.net again it will forward to alegnos@gmail.com

so you can e-mail me on both ... its the same!
having @cjb.net add is nice when you tend to change your e-mail adress often...

Cairo News: Egypt 2006

The organizing committee of the African Cup of nations 2006 ( Which will be take place in Egypt) was facing a big problem in the past few weeks. Apparently the committee has agreed to select the domain egypt2006.com for the event. The problem is that when they attempted to reserve the domain, a person in Alexandria, a doctor has already taken the domain for himself one year ago! After negotiations with members of the committee ( including Dr Viken ), the guy asked for 15,000 L.E in order to give up the domain name!

Finally the committee agreed to reserve the domain http://www.egypt2006.com.eg instead.

Business Review ( Related to an Armenian) : Kerkorian loses a court case ( regarding Daimler-Chrysler merge)

US-German carmaker DaimlerChrysler has won a court case which accused it of lying to shareholders during the 1998 merger which created the group.

Casino tycoon Kirk Kerkorian, at the time Chrysler's biggest shareholder, wanted $1.2bn (£640m) in compensation. He claimed that it was more of an 'overtake' than a merge, leading to many losses for shareholders.

MG Rover has gone into administration. MG Rover wanted to link ( merge) with China's largest carmaker to generate cash, develop new models and reverse falling sales of its sports cars and sedans.
But the deal has failed... the future of the company is unknown
The company has been facing financial problems for 5 years... ever since BMW sold the company in 2000.

It has been struggling to survive... the government doesn't seem to be wanting to take the risk of providing loans to the insecure company. The only hope for the car maker to survive is by providing a Chinese car company 75% stake in the business . The Chinese Company is , Shanghai Automotive Industry Corporation (SAIC)
